Following an injury or condition of the lumbar spinal column, vertebral displacement (spondylolisthesis) or sacroiliac joint dysfunction (SIJD), mobilization of the muscles of the back can be promoted with varying degrees of intensity using the modular orthosis SoftTec® Lumbo. Individual components of the orthosis can be added, replaced or removed as required. These adjustments can even be made while the user is lying in a hospital bed.

Treatment module by module

The modules of the SofTec® Lumbo consist of an anatomically shaped plastic shell and two pairs of corset rods of different hardness and elasticity. They are put together in different combinations, in phases, and inserted in a support made of elastic knitted fabric. The strongest support comes from using the shell together with the stiffest rods, and the gentlest support from using the more flexible corset rods.

Comfort and function

The famous spinal surgeon Prof. Jürgen Harms worked with us on the design of the SofTec® Lumbo orthosis. When selecting the materials and building up the different components, special attention was paid to ensuring that the patient would not only progress in their treatment, but would also find the orthosis easy to put on and wear. For example, special finger pockets make the fastening easy to use, even for weak patients.
